Where to begin when planning your Advanture ?

We have talked about this before but with a new season upon us there is no time like the present to start planning your next trip to Scotland.

A country full of scenic beauty and cultural heritage, making it the perfect destination for a campervan adventure. With its rolling hills, rugged coastlines, and stunning lochs, Scotland is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. But planning the ultimate campervan adventure requires a bit of preparation. Here are some tips to help you plan the ultimate Scottish campervan adventure.

Choose your campervan wisely

The first step in planning your Scottish campervan adventure is to choose the right vehicle. When it comes to campervans, there are several options available, from compact vans to larger Motorhomes. The type of campervan you choose will depend on the size of your group and your budget. Be sure to choose a campervan with ample storage space for your gear and a comfortable sleeping area. If you are planning on travelling the NC500 or the Coastal routes , then make sure that your van will get you down the single track roads that are commonplace. We know that Cooper and Sheila are well equipped to achieve this with no problem

Plan your route

Scotland has a diverse landscape, with plenty of stunning locations to explore. Before setting off on your adventure, plan your route. Consider the time of year you will be travelling, as weather conditions can vary greatly across Scotland. Make a list of must-see destinations, and plan your route accordingly.

Some of the top destinations to consider include:

  • The Isle of Skye: This stunning island is home to rugged landscapes and picturesque fishing villages.

  • Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park: A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, this national park is full of stunning scenery, including lochs, mountains, and forests.

  • The North Coast 500: A 500-mile route that takes you around the north coast of Scotland, offering stunning views of the sea and the Scottish Highlands.

  • The Cairngorms National Park: This national park is home to the Cairngorms mountain range and is a popular destination for hiking, skiing, and wildlife watching.

Pack the essentials

When packing for your Scottish campervan adventure, it’s important to pack the essentials. Be sure to bring warm clothing, waterproof gear, and sturdy footwear. Scotland’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s important to be prepared for all conditions. Other essentials to pack include a first aid kit, a map or GPS, and a camera to capture all of the stunning scenery.

Plan your meals

One of the great things about a campervan adventure is the ability to cook your meals on the road. Before setting off on your adventure, plan your meals. Consider bringing a portable stove or BBQ, as well as cooking utensils and a cooler to keep your food fresh. Scotland is home to some of the world’s finest seafood, so be sure to sample some of the local cuisine during your adventure.

Be respectful of the environment

When exploring Scotland’s stunning landscapes, it’s important to be respectful of the environment. This means following the Leave No Trace principles, which include packing out all of your trash, respecting wildlife and vegetation, and being considerate of other campers. Scotland is home to some of the world’s most fragile ecosystems, so it’s important to do your part to protect them.

In conclusion, a campervan adventure in Scotland is the perfect way to explore the country’s stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage. By choosing the right vehicle, planning your route, packing the essentials, planning your meals, and being respectful of the environment, you can plan the ultimate Scottish campervan adventure. So pack your bags, hit the road, and get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
